Happy National Day of Prayer!
As I tossed between dreams & "time to wake the children" > this is said in the TV commercial tone "time to make the donuts", running through my mind were hymns! PTL!
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of Creation
O my soul praise Him! for he is thy health & salvation
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Join me in glad adoration!
Praise to the Lord, Who o'er all things so wondrously reigneith
Shelters thee under His wings, yea, so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, Who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people again
Gladly for aye we adore Him.
After checking my e's, my heart turned from praise to this country & our great need for Divine intervention.
Pray for the upcoming new Supreme Court Justice. Worldview is so important.
Here's an excellent piece addressing that by Thomas Sowell.
I was forwarded an article blasting the Department of Homeland Security for declaring that conservatives are "rightwing extremists" & warning law enforcement agencies to keep a sharp lookout. Are they worried that we are praying to our God Who is still on His throne & is our Ultimate Authority no matter what idiotic laws are passed?
He is Mighty.
They should be afraid if their agenda is contrary to His plan.
I was sent a political cartoon showing politicians shoveling $ out of a runaway cart and a sign stating:
Plan of Action for U.S.
Spend! Spend! Spend!
Under the guise of recovery
Bust the Government
Blame the capitalists for the failure
Junk the constitution and
Declare a dictatorship
Accompanying the comic was this info:
It seems we've been here before....You might appreciate this cartoon from the Chicago Tribune, 1934. The government actions following the 1929 Crash made the economy worse, not better. The result was a down cycle that probably would have worked out in 3 - 4 years, but became a 10 year depression due to government intervention. Those who fail to heed the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. A review of the economic history of the 1930's demonstrates that Roosevelt 's spending programs failed to turn the economy around. Unemployment temporarily dropped and then rose again in the late thirties to more than 15%. It took World-War II to reverse that trend.
And more than one article (including Sowell's above) has been written comparing the decisions coming out of DC to those leading up to Nazi Germany.
It's the National Day of Prayer,
so pray!
But don't stop tomorrow.

great post
Thanks for posting the words to "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty," and for the pictures of your obviously fun-loving family! The hymn caught my attention because it is the one I wrote about for today in my daily blog, Wordwise Hymns. Today (Aug. 17) is actually the anniversary of the death of the hymn's author, Joachim Neander (in 1680). God bless you and yours.
