Birthday Wishes

Happy birthday to my dear husband.

As I was thinking back over the years, I was reminded that the first clear memory I have of interacting with him was at a church singles fellowship where we sang Happy Birthday to him.
I asked him his age.
I didn't believe he was THAT OLD (24) when he told me so carded him on the spot.

Neither of us had a clue about what the future held. :-)

Culture Sale

On Facebook my talented daughter-in-law posted LAST WEEK: "I am currently having a major sale on all my fine art prints!! This will only be going for two weeks so be sure to take advantage! All prints are now starting at $12 instead of $30!! Please take a look!"

If you've been wanting to purchase a print of one of Maryn's beautiful paintings available on her site at Fine Art America, now is the time to act! OR if you just want to look, no purchase is required! For more info on Maryn and of her pictures on exhibit, look at this and this.

She & Jacob are doing well. A year into their married life, I live the reality of most mothers of married kids: I don't get to see them often enough.

But when I'm feeling lonely for them, I've got Facebook! :-)

Training the Ear

Caleb & Rachel have been taking piano lessons since last January, with Rachel enjoying the bulk of the lessons during the summer while Caleb worked at SACK.

Rachel has recently began to seek out simple sheet music versions of songs which she likes to learn to play. ("WooHoooo!" says Mom.) The latest of these is "Rocky Top". There was a problem though; our memory of how the song was supposed to sound was different from how the notes were written. Not vastly, but enough to make us tilt our head & say, "That's not right."

So today I sat down with the song sheet & a blue pen & plunked-out (thank you Brother Scott for that properly used term) the song, locating & correcting the wrong notes. It was satisfying to hear the song played properly. We were happy to recognize the right, familiar tune.

Made me think about truth. God's truth is gleaned from His Word. Rightly applied truth is satisfying in our lives. Sometimes we hit a wrong note but His guidance gets us back into playing His song. How I pray that we are so in tune with His Spirit and His Word that we recognize any inappropriately played music, the wrong notes grate on our ears so we say "that's not right" then seek out the Truth so we are not stuck playing the wrong notes. Harmoniously restored.

Juggling to Beatles

My Aunt Elaine has been sending me lots of entertaining things. This one of a man juggling to a Beatles song is one of the best. Hope you enjoy it too.

The Juggler

On youtube this is called "Chris Bliss Juggling Act - Beatles" and notes he is performing to "Golden slumbers", "Carry that Weight", and "The End"

There were comments that stated he wasn't that great of a juggler but I think he's a great entertainer!

Quick up-to-dates from my FB Beautiful pictures of the world & song "I Believe" courtesy of Aunt Elaine.

Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this tenth anniversary of

one our country's worst tragedies.. We do this in honor of those who lost their lives on 9/11, their

families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting

at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms. So, is YOUR flag ready?

Planted seeds in my little garden today: broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, carrots, spinach, lettuces, squash, beans. Squeezed them in amongst the peppers, grape tomatoes, strawberry (just one), basil, parsley & multiplying onions. Stan has plans to build me a mobile greenhouse. :-)
