Connections to Knowing

Didja ever notice how you are known by what you do & who you are related to? A belonging connection.

I've been know in many ways since birth:
John & Juanita's daughter
a granddaughter, niece, cousin

As I grew that continued:
Dennis' sister
my friend
someone else's friend
a child of the King
student
choir member
writer
employee
bookkeeper

Then came:
date
girlfriend, fiance', Stan's wife
daughter-in-law
sister-in-law
aunt

As blessings arrived I became:
Jacob's mom
Andrew's mom
Caleb's mom
Rachel's mom
teacher
volunteer
homeschool group leader

Plus:
the mother of THOSE children (or ALL those children - as if 4 is outrageous?)
the finatic (homeschools so she's gotta be)
the troublemaker (too involved)
owner of (too numerous to name) pets, car, house, umbrella
librarian

You catch the drift, I'm sure.

Yesterday I was introduced as Maryn's boyfriend's mother.
And recognition filled their eyes. "Nice to meet you!" Shake, shake.

I feel like I've stepped into a new role even though I've been here awhile already.
I just hadn't made the connection.
