("WooHoooo!" says Mom.) The latest of these is "Rocky Top". There was a problem though; our memory of how the song was supposed to sound was different from how the notes were written. Not vastly, but enough to make us tilt our head & say, "That's not right."

So today I sat down with the song sheet & a blue pen & plunked-out (thank you Brother Scott for that properly used term) the song, locating & correcting the wrong notes. It was satisfying to hear the song played properly. We were happy to recognize the right, familiar tune.

Made me think about truth. God's truth is gleaned from His Word. Rightly applied truth is satisfying in our lives. Sometimes we hit a wrong note but His guidance gets us back into playing His song. How I pray that we are so in tune with His Spirit and His Word that we recognize any inappropriately played music, the wrong notes grate on our ears so we say "that's not right" then seek out the Truth so we are not stuck playing the wrong notes. Harmoniously restored.Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-79729422481308992982011-09-07T11:44:00.005-04:002011-09-07T12:09:16.531-04:00Juggling to BeatlesMy Aunt Elaine has been sending me lots of entertaining things. Did you know that women rarely have the same dramatic symptoms that men have when experiencing heart attack.. you know, the sudden stabbing pain in the chest, the cold sweat, grabbing the chest & dropping to the floor that we see in the movies. Here is the story of one woman's experience with a heart attack.

'I had a heart attack at about 10:30PM with NO prior exertion, NO prior emotional trauma that one would suspect might have brought it on. I was sitting all snugly & warm on a cold evening, with my purring cat in my lap, reading an interesting story my friend had sent me, and actually thinking, 'A-A-h, this is the life, all cozy and warm in my soft, cushy Lazy Boy with my feet propped up.

A moment later, I felt that awful sensation of indigestion, when you've been in a hurry and grabbed a bite of sandwich and washed it down with a dash of water, and that hurried bite seems to feel like you've swallowed a golf ball going down the esophagus in slow motion and it is most uncomfortable. You realize you shouldn't have gulped it down so fast and needed to chew it more thoroughly and this time drink a glass of water to hasten its progress down to the stomach. This was my initial sensation--the only trouble was that I hadn't taken a bite of anything since about 5:00p.m.

After it seemed to subside, the next sensation was like little squeezing motions that seemed to be racing up my SPINE (hind-sight, it was probably my aorta spasms), gaining speed as they continued racing up and under my sternum (breast bone, where one presses rhythmically when administering CPR).

This fascinating process continued on into my throat and branched out into both jaws. 'AHA!! NOW I stopped puzzling about what was happening -- we all have read and/or heard about pain in the jaws being one of the signals of an MI happening, haven't we? I said aloud to myself and the cat, Dear God, I think I'm having a heart attack!

I lowered the foot rest dumping the cat from my lap, started to take a step and fell on the floor instead. I thought to myself, If this is a heart attack, I shouldn't be walking into the next room where the phone is or anywhere else... but, on the other hand, if I don't, nobody will know that I need help, and if I wait any longer I may not be able to get up in a moment.

I pulled myself up with the arms of the chair, walked slowly into the next room and dialed the Paramedics... I told her I thought I was having a heart attack due to the pressure building under the sternum and radiating into my jaws. I didn't feel hysterical or afraid, just stating the facts. She said she was sending the Paramedics over immediately, asked if the front door was near to me, and if so, to un-bolt the door and then lie down on the floor where they could see me when they came in.

I unlocked the door and then lay down on the floor as instructed and lost consciousness, as I don't remember the medics coming in, their examination, lifting me onto a gurney or getting me into their ambulance, or hearing the call they made to St. Jude ER on the way, but I did briefly awaken when we arrived and saw that the radiologist was already there in his surgical blues and cap, helping the medics pull my stretcher out of the ambulance. He was bending over me asking questions (probably something like 'Have you taken any medications?') but I couldn't make my mind interpret what he was saying, or form an answer, and nodded off again, not waking up until the Cardiologist and partner had already threaded the teeny angiogram balloon up my femoral artery into the aorta and into my heart where they installed 2 side by side stints to hold open my right coronary artery.

I know it sounds like all my thinking and actions at home must have taken at least 20-30 minutes before calling the paramedics, but actually it took perhaps 4-5 minutes before the call, and both the fire station and St. Jude are only minutes away from my home, and my Cardiologist was already to go to the OR in his scrubs and get going on restarting my heart (which had stopped somewhere between my arrival and the procedure) and installing the stints.

Why have I written all of this to you with so much detail? Be aware that something very different is happening in your body, not the usual men's symptoms but inexplicable things happening (until my sternum and jaws got into the act). It is said that many more women than men die of their first (and last) MI because they didn't know they were having one and commonly mistake it as indigestion, take some Maalox or other anti-heartburn preparation and go to bed, hoping they'll feel better in the morning when they wake up... which doesn't happen. My female friends, your symptoms might not be exactly like mine, so I advise you to call the Paramedics if ANYTHING is unpleasantly happening that you've not felt before. (Do a site search for squirrel if you want to see the others.) With the rats in her room & mouse-sitting for the weekend, I really wasn't sure what she would say.

I had her pick up the other phone so she could hear his story:
He has a chihuahua. An 18 pounder who is buff & thinks he is Rambo or Rocky or some other tough dude. He is a killer of small animals who infringe on his back yard space.

This dog would not leave his crate yesterday. The man, suspecting "Rambo" had hidden in his crate something that he was not supposed to have, investigated and discovered the baby squirrel, which appeared unharmed.

"Rambo" had to carry the squirrel inside from outside, up steps, through a pet door and through the house to put it into his crate. Then he had kept it warm (the main cause of orphan squirrel death).

But, as the owner noted, "Rambo" couldn't feed the poor thing and with his family schedule, he didn't have time to give it proper care; it needed a new home. Soon.

Could you turn down an orphan with an amazing story like that?

Neither could my daughter.

Meet Acacia.
Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-7441993772359611282010-09-03T21:23:00.001-04:002010-09-03T22:21:27.350-04:00A Journey of 1000 Miles Begins with a Boarding PassStan & I hit a milestone in March > 25 years of marriage. He was told to dress formally as for a job interview so I was very glad he had the suit in his closet and had already broken it in. I'm sure his time spent in a tux didn't hurt any either.

You may think it strange that I'm harping on about what he is wearing but his job as a helpful hardware man requires attire of a decidedly different demeanor. Can you picture him feeding & cleaning up after critters (lizards, snakes, turtles, fish, various rodents), loading up plants & bales of hay or bags of fertilizer, rocks, dirt or filling chlorine containers while wearing a tie? And he has to work on Sundays so usually attends the early service (PTL we have one!) in his nicest work clothes. Days for him to dress up tend to be few so I do my best to make the most of them. :-)

Like today. The interview. The potential scholarship. Yes, prayers are always appreciated. Thank you!

This afternoon he is one of who knows how many vying for the prize BUT the only one I know who can pull off that wreath bit & still look dashing.

Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-30037977443672192702010-08-30T09:54:00.002-04:002010-08-30T10:38:31.055-04:00The Chicken Came FirstThen the coop!

Stan, Caleb & Andrew worked on this in July

And early August

The chickens moved in but still like to roam around some.

We have nine. Do you, as I do, spend too much time focusing in one or two areas that other things may be neglected, MAYBE on purpose?

My choices for my life will not have the long term consequences for the world that the above mentioned government policies will, if passed. Sigh!! Yet as this morning's Bible reading & Pastor's Sunday sermon (May All Who Come Behind Me Find Me Faithful) point out, my decisions will certainly impact my own life awa that of those around me.

So I want to do it right! Only with God's help is a semblance of that even remotely possible.

Lord, help me to see all that I'm supposed to & not neglect things that need attention. Please open the eyes of our government leaders that they will not continue down this destructive path of socialism. Please open the eyes of the nation to see the truth and let Your Truth set us all free.Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-13706964162237049352010-06-11T10:47:00.002-04:002010-06-11T11:03:27.693-04:00How would you live if you knew it was your last day?But who knows that? I had no idea 25 years ago on my way to work that a bad car accident would alter my life: marriage, work, day-to-day activities, the works. The life I once had was so changed that

I count today as my 3rd birthday.

My first birthday was when I was born physically.

The second was when I gave my life to the Lord & He gave me a new heart.

25 years ago as my '69 Mustang spun out of control from one side of the highway into oncoming traffic:
"I cried unto to the Lord with my voice and He heard me out of His holy ear." (from "Thou O Lord")
I really did. I looked right up into His face and called to Him, "Oh, God!!!"
He heard me and I did not die.

Some driving past thought, "Someone must have died in this horrible accident." Some prayed for me. Some came to see me in the hospital. Some nearly passed out in the hall. Some sent flowers and cards.

I thought, "If I were dead, this wouldn't hurt so much - but my poor new husband Stan."

Some doctors said, "If this, if that, if only ________, you would have died." Then several used their God-given skills to put me back together so that eventually all my parts worked the right way again.

Some others looked at everything and said, "God is not finished with you yet."

I lived and healed and grew.
And I said, "Thank You, God, for LIFE. This life is Yours, whatever You give me to do."
Then He blessed me with a stronger marriage, a closer walk, an appreciation for life, the knowledge that I can survive pain and be stronger for it.

Every day is a gift indeed.
So live it that way.
You do not know what tomorrow holds. I pray you know WHO holds your tomorrow.Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-32642339633133951742010-05-11T15:24:00.001-04:002010-05-13T08:57:06.134-04:00Mother's Day 2010-Amber Rollins Testimony.wmvThis was shared at church on Mother's Day. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president." Author Unknown

Pray for a great evangelistic revival in America. Jesus is the only answer.

Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Proverbs 2:6
For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:12
Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse
Proverbs 4:5 - 7
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
Proverbs 4:11
I [God] guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.
Proverbs 8:12
"I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion."
Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Proverbs 17:16
Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?Pattihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11818842456579451011noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4727785398297790912.post-67076268975117272112010-03-16T08:02:00.004-04:002010-03-16T23:34:58.886-04:00Silver Anniversary25 years.
Over half of my life.
Not quite half of Stan's.

1 fun wedding day; 1 life changing car accident
2 jobs for Stan, one at a time, most of the time on B shift (evening)
3 houses, also one at a time
4 children currently aged 21, 19, 16, 13
5 dogs, one right now
6 cats with half of those living here now.
STOP!

I don't have time to come up with a full list of 25 things since our day is full of LAEP set construction & SR Library clean-up (yes, we are going two separate directions; life is full & blessed) so I'll just hit some biggies:

13 years in FL for Stan.
